The Iceman (Vromen, 2012)

The Iceman (Ariel Vromen, 2012)

Got to see this one at a free screening the other night and overall I could take it or leave it. The best thing going for it is easily Michael Shannon. Without him, this could have easily been a dud. Not only his performance, but even his physique is perfect for the role. The cinematographer deserves credit for using some great camera angles, but so many times I was floored by just how powerful Shannon looked and what that brought to his character. It was especially interesting because of how gentle he portrayed the family-man side of his life. Outside of that, though, this is your typical mob/hitman drama which is just not my preferred genre. Oh, and David Schwimmer is hilariously mis-cast in this!  6.5/10
