2012 (Roland Emmerich, 2009)

This movie gets bonus points for being so bad it’s funny. If I hadn’t seen anything else from Roland Emmerich, I would assume this is done on purpose, but alas, I belive it is not. How many times can this family narrowly escape the disastrous elements around them? The Earth is literally crumbling around them, taking anything and everything else along with it. I have to admit I was actually enjoying the mad hilarity. (And as a bonus, Woody Harrelson’s character has a great little animated film that is actually genuinely funny.) Unfortunately, the second half is just so bad it’s bad. It’s full of horribly written weepy goodbye scenes, an insane amount of poorly executed suspense, and a big fat message for humanity. Thanks for the laughs, but no thanks for everything else.  3.75/10
